JUANITA SETZER APPOINTED TO FIRST THINGS FIRST REGIONAL COUNCIL

(August 8, 2011) The statewide Board has named Juanita Setzer of Prescott Valley to serve on the Yavapai Regional Partnership Council of First Things First.

First Things First is the voter-created statewide organization that works to ensure that all young children, ages birth to 5 years old have the tools they need to arrive at kindergarten healthy and ready to succeed.

“I have a heart for children,” Setzer said. “I have seen First Things First reach out and provide resources to parents, to schools and to other agencies in order to assist children to thrive.”

At First Things First, regional partnership councils comprised of local volunteers make recommendations to the statewide Board about the programs and services young children in their communities need. Setzer will serve on the Yavapai Regional Partnership Council, which makes these decisions for Yavapai County and Sedona.

Setzer has lived in Yavapai County since 1989, and has a commitment to helping people. She has worked locally with Habitat for Humanity, Catholic Charities, and the Yavapai Prescott Indian Tribe. She currently works as a MemberConnections Representative with Bridgeway Health Solutions. Through her work, she organizes community activities and connects Bridgeway customers to local resources that work to fulfill their basic needs, such as food, shelter and clothing.

“I hope to be able to use my knowledge and skills to enhance the council so that children continue to have a better way of life,” Setzer said. “A strong foundation gives children the ability to thrive and become leaders in their world one day.”
