Parents Can Help Determine Services Funded for Kids in Yuma Region
Yuma, AZ (September 12, 2011) – The First Things First is encouraging parents to make their voices heard on the needs of young kids in the Yuma region.
Between September 9 and October 5, survey teams will be at various locations throughout the region, including community events, grocery stores and library readings time. The regional councils seeks information from parents on the region’s strengths and needs in five major areas: 1) child care quality and access, 2) economic stressors, 3) health care needs, 4) family engagement, and 5) community resources.
First Things First was created by Arizona voters to expand or enhance early education and health services that help kids arrive at school healthy and ready to succeed. Decisions about which programs are needed and funded are made by local volunteers on the regional council.
The regional council will use information gathered from the surveys to make funding decisions for the next fiscal two fiscal years.
When parents are out and about in the community and they see a survey team, the regional councils asks that you please take a moment to share your opinions. Your feedback is very important, and all responses are kept strictly confidential.
With your help, the regional council can continue to fund services that will impact our children, their families and our community.
Please call Carmen Hurtado with First Things First at (928) 343-3020 if you have any questions.
