Request for Comments on Tribal Consultation Policy

COMMENT PERIOD EXTENDED TO APRIL 2, 2009

First Things First Tribal Consultation Policy

SUMMARY:        The First Things First Initiative funds a voluntary system of early childhood and health so that all Arizona children can be healthy and ready to succeed when they enter school.   Our work involves developing close ties with community partners, 31 volunteer Regional Partnership Councils across Arizona and Arizona Tribes, all of whom are important to creating a system that builds and sustains a network of early childhood programs and services.

Our agency is committed to operating within a government to government relationship with Arizona Tribes.  To ensure we develop a strong working relationship, we have developed and will implement a Tribal Consultation Policy per Executive Order 2006-14.  To ensure the policy is clear, we are offering public comment on the document and welcome your thoughts, comments and suggestions.

DATES:                  Comments will be considered if received no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 2, 2009.
